Streaks Score 3 in the 7th to Beat Washington 8-7

After a rough conference doubleheader over the weekend, the Sophs were able to rebound and win a nonconference contest at Washington on Tuesday. Ryan Osborn and Dylan Klinck provided the offensive punch early for the streaks. Osborn had a double, triple, and scored 2 runs. Klinck drove home 3 runs with a 2 out double in the 4th inning to make the score 5-2. Washington was able to take advantage of some defensive miscues and take a 7-5 lead entering the 7th inning. After the leadoff hitter was retired, Klinck was able to coax a hit by pitch to reach base. Peyton Isaacson and Nick Foster followed with infield singles. After a passed ball scored Klinck and advanced the runners to 2nd and 3rd, Matt Kohl then drove 2 runs home with a single up the middle. Isaacson then came in and retired the only 3 batters he faced for his 2nd save of the season. The streaks move to 11-10 on the season and host Rock Island in a conference doubleheader this Saturday at 11:00 am.

Sophs struggle against strong pitching against Canton, Quiet bats and Errors cost streaks against PND

Nick Foster was the lone streak to get a hit off of Canton in the 3-0 loss in game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader with Canton. Game 2 was much different with the streaks pounding out 12 hits in a 14-1, 5 inning win. Jake Thompson had the big blow in the 2nd inning with a bases loaded triple with an error that allowed him to score as well. Nick Foster threw 4 innings, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits.

Monday night started well for the streaks with Cal Morling throwing 5 scoreless innings and the offense putting up 3 runs over the first 2 frames. Then the offense went quiet the rest of the game while PND took advantage of 3 galesburg errors in the last 2 innings as well as executing 2 squeeze plays to score 6 runs over the final 2 innings and win 6-3.

Sophs Beat Macomb 30-8

We were able to put up runs early and often against the bombers. The Streaks built a 14-0 lead after hitting for 2 innings by getting a couple drag bunts down from Chris Anderson and Logan Davis as well as agressive baserunning from several players.
Bryce Dejaynes got the start for the Streaks and made quick work of the Bombers in the first thanks to a good throw and relay by Anderson and Davis after Anderson misplayed a ball for a double before throwing the runner out at third trying for a triple. Dejaynes ran into some trouble in the bottom of the second and had some trouble finding the strike zone. Cal Morling came in to relieve him and got out of the inning as well as throwing a third inning where he only gave up one run on a day when the wind was blowing out and a lot of runs would be scored.

Peyton Isaacson earned the win despite having a blown save in 3 innings of relief.

In the first game of the day, Normal West beat the streaks 5-3. Galesburg only had 1 baserunner over the first 4 innings and failed to score until the 6th inning. Jake Thompson took the loss for the streaks. After throwing 3 scorelesss innings before he ran into trouble in the 4th inning

We showed a lot of potential in our first games, but we've got a lot of work to do.We showed that when we get the ball on the ground and throw strikes we can be successful, but we need to do that on a more consstent basis. I'm looking forward to our first freshman game on Monday against Sherrard at 4:30.
