In a rematch of the 2010 district championship game, Galesburg was again victorious over Geneseo with wins of 11-1 and 9-4. Tyler Farrel threw a 5 inning no hitter while allowing an unearned run in game one while Logan Scott earned the win in game 2 with Nick Hull picking up the 9 out save.
It was nice to see our bats come alive in game one with Dalton Davis driving in 5 runs in his first 2 at bats. While Tyler wasn't as sharp as he would like to be, he was still too much for the Geneseo lineup.
In game 2 we had to come from behind as Geneseo put up a 2 run lead in the first inning. We then had a 5-4 lead going to the 5th inning and had 5 straight batters retired before Peyton Isaacson started a two out rally with a single to right. Chris Fields followed with a single to left before Drake Sykes drove them both home with a double. Those insurance runs and a strong relief performance from Nick Hull finsished off a solid home opener that moves Galesburg to 3-2 on the season.
