Galesburg versus Pekin

Tonight the Streaks defeated the Pekin Dragons by a score of 10-0 in five innings.  We got to see another dominant performance by Tyler Farrell as he moved his record to 3-0 and kept his ERA at 0.00.
The scoreboard showed a total of 1 hit for the visiting Dragon...which was aided by a weird hop courtesy of the Sundberg field infield.
My thoughts on the game are that it was a very good step forward...especially for our offense.  For the last two nights we have faced some decent pitching.  Last night we were held down a little, but tonight was a different story.  We have an innate ability to gather information during the first time through the order and then execute thereafter.  It was easy to see that work tonight.  We work deep counts, as evidenced by our walk to strike out numbers, and we hit the ball hard.  I love seeing Chris Fields hit the ball well.  He uses the whole field and has worked very hard to improve this part of his game.  It is also nice that Andrew rebounded from his worst game offensively last night and got back to hitting the ball in the middle of the field.  I could mention others, Dalton, Brock, Zack,...but on a night like tonight, it would require a lot of typing.
I want us to realize that there is still one piece of the puzzle missing.  I still worry about us handling the baseball.  I do not want to have to rely on our pitching and offense to win every game.  Coach Peck, a guy who knows this game as well as anyone, reference that fact to me as well.  The coaching staff will continue to work to make this improvement our primary goal.
All in all, it is fun to be a part of the Streaks baseball program.  I hope you enjoyed watching or reading about us tonight as much as I do.

Come out tomorrow and watch the Streaks against Rockford Guilford
