Streaks rebound against East Peoria

For those that came to East Peoria Wednesday afternoon, they were able to witness what I feel to be the most complete game the Streaks have played all season.  Galesburg beat East Peoria by a score of 6-5.  Some interesting things occurred in this game.

First of all, we faced the toughest pitcher of the year in White from E.P.  The Streaks, as a team, had only struck out 12 times all year.  On this night, we struck out 10 times...some because of a questionable strike zone, but mostly because White was dominant...especially early in the game.
We did get to him eventually and good teams make adjustments at the plate.  Interestingly, although I only had the Streaks for 6 hits, I think all them were for extra bases!  Zach McCrery stayed hot with a couple of doubles.  Chad Johnson, and Luke Ryan both had their first home runs of the season.  Chris Fields came through with a big RBI double as well.
We made plays defensively as well and none bigger than Brock Bush nailing the E.P. runner at second while trying to stretch a double in the sixth inning.
Logan Scott started the game and pitched well.  Colton "Kung Fu Panda" Crain showed a lot of guts after a tough outing at Washington to get right back on the mound and pitch well the very next day in relief.  He also earned his first career varsity win for his efforts.  Finally, Timmy Rossell earned a save with his gritty performance in the 7th.  He made a great defensive play to end the game by getting off the mound and throwing a runner out from the 3rd base line.

All in all a great win and one to build on.  Come out tonight as the Streaks take on Pekin at home at 6:00
