Galesburg versus Quincy

The Galesburg Silver Streaks completed a sweep of Quincy last night on what was an otherwise miserable evening.  The weather played a factor especially in the second game where the Streaks won 7-2.  Galesburg won the first 9-3.

Dominant pitching performances were the trend last night.  We continue to get great efforts on the mound.  Tyler, Timmy, Milli, Austin, and even Rebel all contributed.  Our starters were dominant, and I was really impressed with Timmy Rossell's effort in relief of Milligan in game two.

Offensively, Coach Schwabb pointed out to me that we executed with two outs on multiple occasions.  Zach McCrery and Nick Milligan each hit home runs.  Andrew Steck just missed on two occasions.  Collectively, there were contribution from all parts of the lineup.  This is a good sign, and I hope we continue to put pressure on teams with our hitting and base running ability.

Defensively, of course I am going to continue to preach improvement in this area.  A few errors last night which did not hurt us...but will against Moline this weekend.  We cannot give teams extra outs.  We will continue to work on this.

All in all a great night for the Streaks.  This sets up a fantastic match up between the conference favorites...Galesburg and Moline...both coming in at 4-0.  You cannot ask for anything better than this.  The Streaks are making a serious attempt at the conference title and Moline is as well.  Both teams will need to be at their best and, personally, I can't wait to see how we respond.
