Sophomores Lose 10 - 9 in Extra Innings

We finally got to play after an 8 day layoff and wound up losing 10 - 9 in 8 innings to an 8-1 Washington team.
We used 6 pitchers and Washington used 8 as both teams were in need of getting some guys some work to prepare for the coming conference games. We got down early in the first inning after giving up a 2 run homerun in the 1st inning. Drew Nall had a big 2 run double in the third to tie up the game. Carson Cheesman scored 2 runners on a sacrifice fly to make the score 5-3 in the 4th inning, but Washington wouldn't go away and with the help of a couple of our errors and walks scored 6 runs over the next 3 innings to build a 9-7 lead with 2 outs and no one on base in the top of the 7th.

Colby Smith and Drew Nall battled there way through 2 tough at bats and earned walks to set up Drake Sykes' 2 run double to tie the game in the 7th inning. We didn't capitalize on a chance to score in the 8th, and Washington earned the victory with 3 hits in the 8th inning to score the winning run. Sykes finished the night 4-5. Nall, Chans Sugden, and Drew Diaz all had 2 hits.
