Galesburg versus Macomb

Tonight the Streaks defeated a nice Macomb Bombers squad by a score of 6-1.  This moves the Streaks record to 23-6.

Chris Fields went the distance on the mound giving up only 1 unearned run while using less than 90 pitches to do it.  He was vintage Chris tonight as I do not recall him issuing a walk.  He throws strikes and induces a lot of ground balls.  And as long as we can field it, Fieldsy is usually successful when he does what he did tonight.

Offensively, we did most of our work in the first two innings.  In the first inning, we scored two runs on Zack McCrery and Brock Bush RBIs. Dalton Davis had a big double in the second and later scored on a single by McCrery.  The Streaks put together 9 hits on the night as they tallied their final score in the 6th.

Macomb has a nice ball club as they are very well coached by a former Bomber and a guy I played ball against while I was in high school.  They have defeated 4 of the 6 Western Big Six schools and have a record of 23-7.  This was a quality win no matter what the size of school Macomb is.  Good luck to them and Coach Bainter as they head into the regional.
