Sophomores end season at 14-14 with loss to Moline

We battled back and made it a competitive game, but the early 4-0 hole that we dug ourselves was too much to overcome a solid Moline team. With the loss, we end the season with a 14-14 record.

The Maroons built the 4-0 lead after just 2 innings. The 4 runners that scored reached base on 2 walks, a hit by pitch and a single. The runner that actually earned his way on base eventually scored on a failed pickoff attempt at first base.

We battled our way back into the game when Ryan Osborn scored on a sac fly from Carson Cheesman in the 5th inning. Drake Sykes led off the 6th with his second homerun of the season. Tanner Guss later scored on a single from Osborn.

Moline's Ashcraft led off the bottom of the 6th with a solo homerun of his own to make the final score 5-3 as we failed to get home the tying runners that had reached base in the top of the 7th.

We played well at times this season, and other times we struggled with walks errors and strikeouts. Hopefully the players will work hard in the offseason and be strong contributors to the varsity program next season.
