Sophomores Sweep at Alleman

Two strong pitching performances led to a sweep over Alleman including 10-2 and 6-4 victories that leaves Galesburg with a season record of 14-9 and 5-1 in the conference heading into Thursday's doubleheader with Moline.
Carson Cheesman threw a complete game 2 hitter in game 1. Drew Nall led the streaks offensively with 3 hits incuding a leadoff double that led to 5 runs in the top of the first inning. Carson Cheesman added 2 drag bunt base hits.

Drake Sykes went 6 strong innings in game 2 allowing 3 runs (2 earned). Chans Sugden finished the game picking up the save. Tanner Guss led the way offensively going 4-4. Chans Sugden added 2 hits including an RBI triple in the 7th inning.

This was the most complete day of baseball that we have played this season. Our pitchers threw strikes, we fielded the ball well for the most part, we hit the ball really well at times, and we put the ball on the ground and forced our opponent to make plays. I'm really looking forward to playing Moline this week. I just hope we get a chance to finish both games before it gets dark.
